Do you think that most anti gun people are anti gun because they never had a crime committed against them?

I just wondered if the people out there who are supposidly anti gun would change if someone broke into their house and had their way with their family and sent them a video tape of the act.Do you think alot of these people who p anti gun laws have ever had a family member or child murdered?What do you think,because in my opinion,I think it is human instinct for someone to be a vigilante,rather than still believing that guns are bad,and relying on the premise of maybe the police will catch them.What is your view on this topic?It kind of reminds me of Michael J Fox,who has parkensons disease,he wouldn't give a damn about research if it had not happened to him.
